Craigslist Scammers

System - Friday, October 25, 2019

Today we're covering a really important issue that I've been seeing lately which seems to have picked up even more in the past couple months, which would be Craigslist scams. What is a Craigslist scam? A craigslist scam is taking an actual listing a real listing and someone a scammer will take it and post it on craigslist for something substantially cheaper. Often, they will use the same photos that we have, use the same description and such. However, what they will tell you through the process is that they let their real estate professional go because we  want to charge way too much money and they are going to give it to you for a great reduction on price because they're leaving town, they are picking up to go somewhere, international, or to another state. They may even ask for your information, social, date of birth and more. This seems standard but right there from the jump you should know in most cases, if someone cannot meet you in person, don’t give any information out. Do not give any pertinent information to anyone that you can’t meet with to see or speak with, in person. They will also have a shotty contact number, and ask you to transfer money. Be sure to do your research do NOT give them your information and also check actual real estate websites like Zillow Trulia Hot Pads and more where you can likely find the real and actual listing as opposed to their scam price. It is very important in any situation like this on Craigslist to make sure you just refer back to your real estate websites or call a real estate professional to see if this is real.
