Credit Report
Do a full credit report when you’re screening tenants. You can get it through a third party vendor who can pull a complete credit history on any potential tenant. This is very important to give you an idea of the financial behaviors of your potential tenants.Employment Verification
Do an employment verification as well. This is where you call the employer listed on the application and check to make sure the tenant is currently employed there. You can ask how long the tenant has worked there, and gather any information you can from this employer.Landlord References
Call the tenant’s current landlord and even the past landlords to get a rental history. That gives you an idea of whether the tenant paid rent on time and kept the property in good condition. These are three things you can do to find a well qualified tenant. If you have any questions or you need any help in placing a tenant, contact us at The Maryland and Delaware Group of Long & Foster, and we’d be happy to tell you more.
